I’m Arnie Lytle a waterjet specialist in Phoenix, Arizona. I have lived in the Valley of the Sun for the past 20 years.
THE EARLY YEARS
I was born and raised on a family farm in Nebraska. My first car was a 1923 Model “T” ford with a Buick V8 engine in it. I was only 13 at the time but I lived on a farm so I could get away with lots of things like that. By the time I got out of high school I had driven or operated just about every kind of machine or motorized equipment you could imagine.
After high school I spent 4 years in the US Navy in the Pacific Fleet at the end of the Vietnam conflict. Yeah I was there and helped evacuate the refugees when Saigon fell in 1975. I was a steam turbine operator on a ship, an experience that has been useful for the rest of my life.
From working with my older brother doing auto restoration and customizing cars, to living on a farm building and repairing most equipment ourselves, I did a lot of metal working and fabricating parts.
THE WATERJET YEARS
In 1996, my welding skills that were honed on the farm, got me my first job in a waterjet shop that just opened. By the end of my tenure, I gained more experience and did such a variety of different things that I became a leading waterjet specialist in the industry.
I worked a few years for Micro-Tronics as a division supervisor and later owned and operated my own waterjet company.
I purchased Accurate Waterjet in 2008 and then in 2014, I decided to partner with Ron Marusiak, (one of the original owners of Micro-Tronics), to put Accurate Waterjet in full operation in our own building. At that time we moved into our present building at 3819 E. LaSalle Street in Phoenix. We have a small group of entrepreneurs and we affectionately call our shop the “Hobby Shop”.
OUR IDEAL CLIENTS
DIYers (aka Do-it-Yourselfers) who are always trying to figure out how to do things on their own rather than paying someone else to do it for them!
People looking to design parts but don’t have CAD software or the knowledge to use it efficiently. I have 19 years of computer drawing experience so while I am not a degreed Engineer (so I don’t charge what they get) I do a lot of this type of work for people.
People wanting parts for cars. Some very old ones as well as general production parts for other manufacturers.
Artists. Whether you’re an up-and-comer who started doing things by hand but can’t keep up with demand anymore, found you can be more successful completing projects that we make parts for, or well established Artists that know Waterjet is simply a really great process to make the components for their artwork.
I am finally old enough to decide what I want to do with my life. I love working with my clients to help them accomplish their goals.
My true passion tends to lean more to the artistic side. That makes me a rather unique person as not many waterjet shops really concentrate on doing or even understand the artistic side of the waterjet business.
I am also an old “motor head” so love old cars and have probably had more “muscle cars” than anyone deserves or most people want, but have loved them all, well except for the orange Fiat that my kids affectionately called the “Pumpkin”. That was a kind of a piece of junk.
Between my wife and I, we have 7 children (6 living) and 14th grandchildren. Most don’t live close by so we don’t get to see much of them but my Son-in-law is my “top waterjet operator” and is one of the best I have ever known. I could even say that long before he married my daughter, so I am not prejudiced toward him.
